Motorcycle passenger killed in crash with allegedly counterflowing bus

A 47-year-old female motorcycle passenger was killed in Rizal’s Taytay town after an allegedly counterflowing bus crashed into her motorbike, James Agustin reported Monday on 24 Oras.

Motorcycle driver Feliciano Simbajon and his passenger/wife Josavel were on their way home, motoring along the Ortigas Avenue Extension, at 4 a.m. when the bus crashed into them.

“Pakaliwa na kami rito, kasi wala naman sasakyan, kumaliwa kami dito. Umovertake sa kaliwang side yung bus kaya tumama kami sa katawan ng bus. Yung misis ko nalaglag ako nakahawak doon sa motor kaya umikot yung motor namin,” said Feliciano, who injured his elbow in the crash.

“Maliit pa yung anak ko., nag-aaral pa yon. Kaya hindi ko alam paano kinabukasan ng mga anak ko kasi wala na yung misis ko na naguguide sa pag aaral nila,” lamented the motorcyclist.

Meanwhile, the 54-year-old bus driver was under the custody of the Taytay Municipal Police Station.

The bus driver said he came from the Binangonan garage and was on his way to the Antipolo terminal.

He admitted to the counterflow.

“Malayo pa nakabusina na ako kasi maluwag yung kalsada talagang bumangga siya sa… Ang bagal na niya papunta rito mabagal din kami, umaga,” said the bus driver.

“Pasensya na lang, kasi aksidente yan. Hindi naman natin inaasahan yan,” the bus’ driver added.
