Three alleged members of Dawlah Islamiyah – Maute Group were killed in an encounter in Munai, Lanao del Norte, the Armed Forces’ Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) said on Sunday. 

In a statement, the military identified the fatalities as Nezrin Sandab or Firdaus, Saipal Abubacar or Fariz, and Pabo Zainoden Radia or Musab. 

Meanwhile, one soldier sustained minor injuries and was evacuated to receive medical attention. 

On Saturday, troops from the 103rd Infantry Brigade encountered an undetermined number of suspected Maute Group members in Barangay Lindongan. 

The firefight lasted for around 20 minutes. 

Recovered from the encounter site were three M14 rifles, 7.62 mm ammunition, and six backpacks, according to the military. 

Westmincom chief Lieutenant General William Gonzales commended the troops for the operation.—Joviland Rita/AOL. GMA Integrated News
