CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Fourteen people were rescued when their boat capsized in the waters off Burdeos, Quezon on Saturday night.
The passengers came from Binumbunan Island when big waves and strong winds battered their boat off the coast of Barangay San Rafael at around 6:30 p.m., according to Capt. Fernando Portes, Burdeos police chief.
Police and local disaster management personnel responded and rescued the passengers.
Portes said the passengers, including a teacher and the owner of the boat, were taken to a clinic for medical checkup.
